Air Passenger Duty - strangling your business?

Henry Smith, MP, has written to ask me to gather evidence that the increasing rates of Air Passenger Duty (APD) are having a negative impact on business.

He will be hosting a Parliamentary Debate on the issue and is looking for a few local companies who could testify as to the impact the proposal could have on their businesses. He is especially looking for short, pithy quotes which he could use in reference to your views during his speech.

The current rates are as follows & are paid in addition to your ticket price
Band A (0 – 2000 miles) - £24
Band B (2001 – 4000 miles) - £120
Band C (4001 – 6000 miles) - £150
Band D (over 6000 miles) - £170

These rates are the highest in Europe & are likely to increase this Autumn
